Porcelain Veneers

Most of our patients choose porcelain veneers as a part of their smile makeovers. Porcelain veneers are thin shells of fired porcelain that are placed on the front surfaces of the teeth. Offering a natural look and feel, veneers allow us to change the length, width, color and shape of a tooth.

The natural look and feel of veneers make them virtually impossible to detect. Versatile and strong, porcelain veneers resist staining, creating an enduring white, bright, straight smile.

We begin by taking a mold of your teeth that is sent to a lab with precise instructions about what to do to enhance your smile. The lab will create a “wax up” – a wax mold of how your new smile will look. You and your doctor will review the wax up and either make changes or give the lab approval to proceed. From the wax up, the lab will create your new “teeth” of porcelain.

Once the wax up is approved, your doctor will prepare your teeth and fit your with temporaries (temporary version of your “new smile”). When the porcelain veneers are ready, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth.

Bonding

Bonding is a composite resin filling that can lighten stains, close up minor gaps and correct crooked teeth. We will apply a bonding material to sculpt, color and shape the tooth. Then a high-intensity light hardens the resin and we finely polish the tooth, creating a natural looking, gorgeous smile!
